The internet, defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is defined as an electronic communications network that connects computer networks and organizational computer facilities around the world. Including any sort of computer, phone, gaming device or anything that would allow a device to connect to this electronic communications net work, it was founded on January 1st of 1983 (what a was to kick off the new year) by two computer scientists by the name of Robert Kahn and Vinson Cerf. The two originally created a communications model that allowed them to standardize how data is transmitted across multiple networks. Today, their invention is a vital part of the functioning world. From simple communication to collaborative networking the internet can be used for whatever the individuals mind wants.
In comparison the World Wide Web was founded by Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist in 1989, only is years after the internet was founded. The WWW was originally was created and developed in order to meet the demand for automated information-sharing between scientists within universes around the globe. Today it is now used for a multitude of things such as information access, communication, entertainment, E-commerce, education, news media and so much more.
The two work together as the internet acts as infrastructure, that allows for data to be transmitted between devices with ease, and the world wide web acts as a service.The WWW utilizes the internet to web-based services making information accessible to users worldwide. The two are different but they work together to give users an easy experience for users to learn and communicate with each each other.
When scientists learned the compatibilities of the two together the website info.cern.ch was created on April 30th 1993, the url is info.cern.ch and yes it still works.
Hedy Lamar was an Austrian-American actress and inventor who helped develop the technology that contributed to the invention of wifi and bluetooth. She aided in the invention of frequency hopping spread spectrum technology during WWII, in a result she ended up co-creating wifi and bluetooth by using frequency hopping. As for a song about her, there is one titles "Hedwig's Lament" from a musical called "Hedwig and the Angry Inch".
The invention of Bluetooth is soly credited to Jaap Haartsen, who laid down the foundations for bluetooth wireless communication in 1994. The name bluetooth comes from the nickname of an old king, King Harald Gormsson, who has the nickname Bluetooth because was well known for two things, his dead tooth, that had a blue grey color attached to it. The bluetooth logo is the norse language of the old kinks initial, HB.
Wifi was invented in 1997 and was developed by a handful of computer scientists. They were under the name Wi-Fi alliance in 1999. Originally it was called IEEE 802.11, tt was given the name "WiFi' s a brand for products that meet interoperability and security standards. The term WiFi has become synonymous with wireless internet, its wide spread adoption has transformed the way people access and use the internet around the world.
